Bearded Iris Anniversary Party – Today 2/11

Bearded Iris is celebrating one year in operation at their beautiful Germantown taproom (101 Van Buren St, Nashville, TN 37208) this Saturday, February 11th. The anniversary party is not a ticketed event, so all are welcome to stop by for a pint or two. The event runs the taproom’s regular Saturday hours, from noon until 11PM.

Bearded Iris co-founder and brewmaster Paul Vaughn has been cranking out some excellent beers. He has released a string of northeast style IPAs that have truly impressed. Two new Bearded Iris cans will be available for purchase on Saturday: Double Homestyle and Chasing Rainbows will both be sold in 4 packs of 16 oz tallboys. Homestyle has been a huge success, both on draft and in the can. I’m sure Double Homestyle will be yet another delicious, hop forward beer from Bearded Iris. The other new beer being sold in cans on Saturday is Chasing Rainbows. The brewery describes it as: “It’s magically delicious and fleeting as a post-rain-shower apparition, but our newest IPA graces the taproom this Saturday during our anniversary party. Galaxy, motueka & lupulin powder (simcoe+mosaic) blend to form this hazy, 5.8% treat that’ll leave you CHASING RAINBOWS.” I can’t wait to get my hands on some four packs of both of these beers.

Bearded Iris will also be offering two exclusive drafts. Attention Please! and La Fortune. Attention Please! is the brewery’s second DIPA. It was released in cans two weeks ago and has been regarded by many as the best Bearded Iris beer to date. La Fortune is a collaboration with Valentine Family Farm of Murfreesboro, TN. Ben Valentine will be on site at the brewery around 6PM on Saturday telling the unique story of this beer. He harvested both the sumac and goldenrod and participated in the brewday. You won’t want to miss out on this rare Tennessee beer. In addition to these beers and Bearded Iris’ usual lineup, they will be pouring a guest tap from New Hampshire’s Deciduous Brewing Co.

In addition to all this great beer, Bearded Iris will have some outstanding food available. Trace Scarborough’s Thunder Wings and Thunder Thighs are some the the best pieces of smoked chicken I have ever tasted. Pair them his smoked mac and cheese and you have the perfect stick to your ribs lunch for a long Saturday of day drinking. Not to mention the BBQ from East Nashville’s The Gambling Stick, which is some of the best in the city. So if you are thirsty for something to do on Saturday, Bearded Iris is definitely the place to be.
